Careers in Hong Kong

Our clerks and graduates become well-rounded, technically excellent lawyers who help to solve some of our clients’ most complex challenges. But we'll empower you to be so much more.

Our culture

Investing in our people and their careers

We celebrate and invest in our people. We’re committed to helping our people achieve their best and progress in their careers.

Our programme will expose you to a wide variety of business areas, skills, teams and challenges, helping you to understand where your strengths and interests lie. You'll accelerate your legal and business skills by working alongside high-performing partners, lawyers and professionals in a diverse, collaborative and innovative environment.

Our friendly, open culture

We collaborate across our different practice groups in our Hong Kong office and our international network. We have a friendly and open culture with an informal, open door policy. We encourage discussion and consultation at all levels. We value people who work well in a team, and who have energy and enthusiasm both in and out of the office. Our people believe in building authentic and enduring relationships with our clients, their colleagues and in the communities they live and work in.

The way we work

We support sustainable ways of working and believe billable hours are only one input to measuring success. This way each member of the team is empowered to learn and work towards developing their own practice.

We're driven by a strong sense of purpose: we create lasting impacts with our clients, our people and our communities.

Life with us

As an associate with us you have the opportunity to have a career, not merely a job.

We work in small teams - ideally only one partner and one associate – this allows you to work closely with the senior leaders in the firm. You will have the opportunity to take on significant responsibilities, and will be exposed to varied and challenging work. You will develop your skills and experience, and learn how to work to a high standard.

Associates are also encouraged to be entrepreneurial and to build a practice of their own. We are committed to your long term development and progression in the profession. We have an associate-led business development committee which supports market initiatives proposed and run by associates.

We see each trainee as a future associate, and aspire to offer all of our trainees full-time positions as associates upon completion of their training. Our trainees do four six-month seats in our three main departments, supervised closely by partners and experienced associates. If you have a collaborative nature and the ability, drive, and aspiration to succeed, you will find our graduate training programme immensely rewarding, both for the friendships you will make and for your learning and development.

If you are interested in applying for a training contract, we encourage you to apply for either a summer or winter internship first. Experience as an intern sets you up well to be offered a training contract.

If you wish to apply for a training contract, please contact our Operations and Talent Manager Maggie Chow to request an application form.

Summer and winter interns

We invest heavily in the development of our talent through our carefully designed internship programme. Find out more about our programme or contact our Operations and Talent Manager Maggie Chow for more details.

A message

From our senior partners

We pride ourselves on our culture. As a firm, we are continuously focused on fostering an inclusive workplace environment that allows our people to bring their whole selves to work, feel at their best and work to their strengths.

We believe that if we have talented and motivated associates, and we:

  • give them good training and experience in a collegiate environment;
  • encourage them to think entrepreneurially; and
  • support them to develop their skills and build a practice of their own,

we will continue to be a successful firm and a great place to work.
